This Region Proposes Expanded Visa-Free Policy for Foreigners

The draft Hainan Free Trade Port Tourism Regulations has been released for public consultation, proposing a broader visa-free entry policy to boost international tourism.

According to the draft, citizens from countries specially approved by the State Council will be able to enter Hainan Free Trade Port through designated international entry points without a visa and stay for tourism within a specified period.

Eligible foreign visitors will also be permitted to enter visa-free via city ports within Hainan that already implement visa-free transit policies, allowing them to travel within the Free Trade Port for a limited time.

In addition, citizens from countries that maintain diplomatic relations with China may join tour groups organized by legally registered travel agencies in Hong Kong or Macao. These groups can enter Hainan via designated ports without the need for a visa and stay for tourism within the permitted period.

The draft also specifies that foreign tour groups arriving in Hainan by cruise ships through cruise terminals will be eligible for visa-free entry.
